These are Economic History lecture notes, possibly a lecturer's own notes. There are 6 notebooks within a slipcase. On the slipcase is written in pencil "Dr James Cunnison? Alec Macfie?" The identification of the author of these notes is not certain. There is one letter within volume 6 addressed to Dr Cunnison, but without a comparison of handwriting it has not possible to assign these notes to Dr Cunnison. References within the notes would indicate that they were written after 1924. ...

Robert Archibald Bryden was born in Glasgow in 1907 , the son of Andrew Francis Stuart Archibald, architect (deceased by 1925). Robert matriculated at the University of Glasgow in 1925 and studied Latin and Greek (Ordinary). In 1926 he took Roman History (Intermediate), Greek (Intermediate) and Logic. In 1927 he studied Latin and Greek (Honours) and Moral Philosophy and finally History and Geology in 1928. He graduated with an MA in June 1929 . He was a teacher in England and lived in Somerset. ...
